Razzle Dazzle

So, I got a haircut the other week. It was pretty disappointing. I was actually looking forward to getting my hair cut because, you see, I haven't gone to a salon in years. But, as always, it wasn't that great. So I decided to give myself a post haircut haircut. Gave myself new bangs...

Etsy

I really love these vintage plates from Ninainvorm's Etsy shop. She took vintage plates and added her own screenprinted images to them. I love the colors she chose and the way her images interact with the already existing pattern on the plates. Very cool.

Euro Deco

I've been reading, well actually more like flipping through and studying the pictures, of this book I got back when Chaz and I went to Portland called, Euro Deco: Graphic Design Between the Wars. It's amazing. Makes me really want to study graphic design or take a class on the history of graphic design. I should look into that...

Here's some pages from the book:

Busy Sunday

Today I have been working on various things. I have decided to stop feeling sorry for myself and get things moving on the right path. I have applications for jobs filled out and now I'm working on my application for grad school and another application to be considered for exhibitions at a local gallery. Lots of paper work. It feels good though.

Recently I applied for an internship with a local photographer and found out that I got the gig. I'm really excited to start working with her. She has all kinds of ideas for projects she wants me to help her with. We're going to be experimenting with book binding and various other projects related to book arts. I can't wait. I need the inspiration and this will hopefully get my brain juices going and keep me busy creatively till grad school.

September

Chaz and I are both a year older this month. Me, 23. He, 25.
So far so good.

Sometimes when Chaz smiles he looks like a cartoon character. Cute.

Another gray and rainy day. Today I repotted most of my house plants, giving them bigger and better homes. I'm also working on my third load of laundry and job searching online...fun.

Arrow Bikes

I'm loooooooving, absolutely loving these bikes made in Japan. I want them both so bad. Their motto, "Simple is best". I can't agree more! But to be honest I need to start showing my own bike some more love. Take it out more often. These are pretty cute though...

Othello

Today is Chaz's birthday. This is what he got...

His name is Othello. He is a Black Moor.

And we love him.

Such a great film from the opening credits to the final scene with Benjamin and Elaine. I watched this film recently and have decided it is one of my favorites. I love Dustin Hoffman's awkward portrayal of Benjamin Braddok.

Also, I never realized how much Wes Anderson's films remind me of The Graduate. I wonder if he considers Mike Nichols an influence?

Fun

Went to visit my family in Beaufort for the long weekend to celebrate my birthday. We had a wonderful time eating tons of delicious food and going out on the boat with my Dad. Here are a few pictures from our fishing excursion...
