Hirona and I put up our work today at the gallery. The show is up and ready to go for Sat. My work is in the frames and the last image is a shot I took of Hirona photographing her own work. The first five images are my miniatures I'll be selling in addition to my framed stuff. I'm pretty excited. It looks really nice in the space. The City Paper also a did a lovely article about us for this week's issue. Check it out.

A new piece for a show I'm taking part in next month called, Small Spaces with Hirona Matsuda. More info for that show later once I finish the design for the postcard.

A box.

Here are some shots of something new I'm playing with. For my show in Nov I'm creating box miniatures. I recovered a jewelery box with a vintage book cover that I stripped and relined the inside with a vintage handkerchief. I'm still playing around with the objects that will go inside the box. I love it though. I've been carrying around the box in my purse and taking it out once in while to look at it. I plan on creating a whole series of these and hopefully I'll be able to sell them online...another thing I'm thinking about doing. But more on that a different time. Each box will be unique and house various found objects, insects and tiny versions of my photographs. I'm so excited about it.

HeArt Attack

So, it's been a long time since I've last updated this blog. There are lots of reasons for my absence such as some upcoming exhibits which means more time spent on new work, a new Pinterest account (a big time eater) and also new Law & Order episodes on Instant Netflix. I'm kind of joking on that last one. Kind of. I'm going to try to update more often. I promise.

In a few weeks I'm participating in a new show about love and the heart called The HeArt Attack. It's been getting a lot of press around here in Charleston. It's a show curated by creative couple Justin and Erin with 30+ artists taking part in a show that serves as the two's wedding reception. So fun! I feel so lucky to be a part of their special day and included with so many great artists. Here's a video Justin took of me about my work. Let me just say...seeing yourself on video is so strange. It was a fun experience though and Justin did an awesome job. Check it out...

Update: Under the Radar

I haven't posted here in a while, I know. So, I thought I'd do a little update and share some news. Earlier this year I found out that I was one of eight artists chosen to be featured in an exhibition here in Charleston at the City Gallery. Since then I've been working hard making new work, setting up a new website and getting business cards made. I have, along with the other artists, been featured in Charleston Magazine. I can't wait for the opening which is next week, May 26! Come if you can!

Above is the flier for my upcoming show. I'm pretty pleased with how it come out. I think it looks great. Today I had a meeting with the three other artists in the show and after seeing everyone's work I think it's going to be awesome. I can't wait till the opening. Farmtastic

I'm sorry I've been neglecting my blog lately. I've sort of become a little overwhelmed with all the fantastic blogs out there which has made me somewhat insecure about my blog, if that makes sense. And also I've been really busy lately. I just started working on a local organic farm and its been wiping me out all the time. It's a lot of physical work and the heat, oh god the heat! But I really enjoy doing it. Today I helped pick poll beans and eggplant. I got to see the new baby ducks that have just started wandering around the farm and soon we'll be picking cherry tomatoes. I can't wait cause when we do it we can eat them as we work! The best part of the job is all the free food I get to take with me. Summer squash, eggplant, arugula, basil, cucumbers...

Here are some other things that are happening:
-Looking into getting a DSLR, finally
-My own garden is doing so well! Planted leeks, fennel, more arugula, parsley, oregano, Thai basil and others
-Getting a little antsy about some new artwork I want to start, which is a good feeling
-Learning so much from the farm it's awesome, like pattypan?
-Going to try to make my own ginger ale and mozzarella cheese soon, I'll let you know how it goes

Peppermint

Thinking about painting my bedroom. I'm really inspired by this polaroid. Such a wonderful shade of pink. Still trying to decide how I feel about a two tone wall. We'll see. I'm going to play with some samples this week. This polaroid is from Grant Hamilton's portfolio. Check it out, it's awesome.
